Perfectly balanced
Though the podcast focuses on cinematic depictions of war rather American participation in those wars (e.g., All Quiet on the Western front, Gallipoli, They shall not grow old..etc), strickly speaking - in a broader context - these all WERE key to American history as well. In any case, this transgression is easily forgiven because the perspective and interplay of these historians brings a rich context to both the events and critical interpretation of each cinematic representation. Unique. It is a perfect balance between the professional historian and avid enthusiast for detail and the rest of us who want to better understand how the 2oth century went down and how those who lived it, viewed it. Besides it is fun to listen to. James' enthusiasm is contagious!Read full review »
