“I am one of Master Grogan's very first students when he started his martial arts classes in 2005. I'm grateful to have had him as a mentor now for nearly 2 decades. While I was never bullied in school besides the few instances of kids being mean, I was not a confident kid. As a perfectionist, I viewed myself in great deficiency in not being as smart as others, not as cool as others being introvered, not as athletic as I would like to be, etc... Having martial arts training has gradually allowed me to detatch from these insecurities from all of the challenges & teachings that I've learned from Master Grogan. It taught me the discipline of "yes sir" or to listen to others who truly cared about my growth. And while there were times where we had misunderstandings with each other, he always wanted to find a resolution to the problem rather than sweeping it under the rug. I've sincerely appreciated his desire to pass on knowledge... to push me to think more creatively & his willingness to listen when I began to have the courage in life to share where I felt unheard or not respected. This wilingness all came from his desire to grow to become a better person when he really began to focus on his own personal development in the early 2010s. I'm truly grateful for our relationship & how we were able to help each other grow. Like a pebble in a pond, this was the beginning of countless positive ripple effects in his personal life, the podcast you hear today, & what's currently happening at the martial arts academy.
I came to love martial arts so much it became my career! I went to school for secondary education to teach history, but I found a greater passion in helping others grow to become their best with martial arts training. In yearning to follow my passion after graduating college, Master Grogan was looking to delegate greater responsibilites at the time he really got involved with this podcast. It was an ideal time to become more involved at the academy to pursue my passion. I can say with confidence that he has helped me live my dream in my 20s by passing on invaluable leadership skills to be able to continue running the academy he started. The most valuable teaching I learned is the importance of humility, and taking the time to sharpen your sword by taking in knowledge from others who have more experience than you - either through reading, podcasts, mentors, or business networking groups. There's always that next edge! This is exactly what warrior confidnece & this podcast is all about. It's not only about providing you the knowledge of what the mind needs to take on the challenges of life, but motivating you with hope to do it! As Master Grogan says countlessly, knowlege is only as good as you apply it. I can confidently say this podcast motivates me to stay physically, mentally, and spiritually well.
I'm beyond excited to continue building on the great legacy & foundation Master Grogan has laid to continue our mission of helping kids & adults to live their best life. My dream now is become a more innovative leader that enriches that value we provide to our students, community, & provide greater leadership opportunities for our team. Without Master Grogan's guidance, I wouldn't have the mindset I have today to look forward to an uphill journey that always brings about the greatest rewards in life.”Read full review »
