“until I saw this podcast featured in the AV Club Podmass. My god it's been 20 years since the first season and so little discussion about that in the media that Kumail Nanjiani deserves credit for striking podcast gold. I'm listening to episode 4 as I write ("Ghost in the Machine"/"Ice" w/Ricky Carmona) and after 3 enthusiastic and entertaining but shabby shows, the format is coming together quite nicely and organically. Aside from talking about the plots of episodes, Kumail & guests really places The X-Files in several contexts: The Nineties, evolution of tech, it's place in television history (and real-life history), compared/contrast w/other 90s shows, etc.
But I really love the personal anecdotes about the show and his guests' relationship to the show. I too had a massive vhs collection from taping the re-runs off of the new F/X channel. I too have over a dozen trade paperback The X-File compendiums and case file kinda books.
And I'm so super-excited to be re-watching it again, especially when I know this podcast is here. Thanks Kumail and keep them coming please.
