A consistent, rational point of view
You may disagree with Kunstler, but you have to admit he is a genuinely non-partisan pundit with a profound understanding of culture and society. I notice that when I mention any of his ideas to most 'normal' people they tend to get very upset. Unfortunately, most of America is sleepwalking through life, blaming "Liberals" or "Conservatives" for the nation's ills. I think people need to start looking in the mirror first, then organizing their communities with other like-minded denizens. His concepts of 'other living arrangements' and 'streetscapes' and 'scale' are terrific conversation starters. You will at least come away with a new point of view and perspective if you listen to his podcasts with regularity.Read full review »
