The Landslide podcast was really helpful for understanding Ford, Carter, and Reagan and how their campaigns and presidencies influenced what has come since. I recommend it!

We need a season 2. Now more than ever. Understanding how this polarization happened; how we were pitted against each other; how magnates of industry used their fortunes to divide us … it’s all related and the world needs to hear it.

Seriously— I started listening and could not stop. A smart and nuanced dive into a key segment of US political history and the roots of the GOP’s hard lurch to the right in the late 1970s. I cannot recommend highly enough!

Great deep dive into a small, but important, window of time that has shaped so much of our culture and politics in the years that followed. Looking forward to season 2! Make it so NPR! 👉🏻🎙️

Loved this show, it’s a great account of how much of currents politics got started. Very well reaserched and with an engaging narrative thread.

Perhaps the most fascinating thing about Landslide was how much I DIDN’T know about the political environment I grew up in. Bradford dives into aspects of American politics that had roots in the 60s that are only now coming into full bloom. And the music is great!

Well documented and sourced, even-toned, a great primer on 1970’s American politics and the emergence of political trends still unfolding.

Finally, a sensible take on the roots of how nonsensical American politics have become. This is a strong and necessary listen.

Often times we can look at where we are politically in this country and, if we look back, we can see the seeds that we’re planted that got us here. LANDSLIDE does remarkable job of sharing a very specific point in American electoral political history that laid the foundation for the...Read full review »

I was 4 when Carter was elected and 8 when Reagan. I remember both well, but barely understood the implications of these elections. This is essential history in its best form: a really good story.

This is excellent. Even knowing the history, I am learning many new things, and it’s as riveting as a true crime story.

Sticks with the facts and covers the great shift to conservatism in the Republican Party and the changes to the political landscape at large during said era. Has interviews, cites sources, uses archival audio, and more. Well done.

This thorough historical review of the US political campaigns from the last 50 years and how they have laid the path to our current system of politics is essential listening.

Ben Bradford does an excellent job taking listeners through the history of this slice of politics. The story accompanied by amazing music really sets the stage for present day, and I can only hope that we get more in later seasons!

I guess I was too busy, or maybe the information just wasn’t available like it is these days. After listening to the first four episodes, I am shocked and enlightened regarding our political past. No wonder. I was too busy trying to survive professionally and financially while conniving...Read full review »

I just think this series is RIVETING. It’s chilling, and gripping, and I feel suspense even though I generally know, from history, what happens. I saw another comment as I was going to rate this that someone found the music distracting, and I just am having the opposite experience. I really like...Read full review »

It’s a good podcast, but the music is supremely irritating. It comes and goes without reason, and while it’s playing, it just sounds like a band is rehearsing in the studio next door. The music is inoffensive in itself, but it’s mismatched with archival recordings of Gerald Ford.

How discouraging to hear this rendition of what we witnessed, full of cherry-picking half-truths and misinformed innuendo, labelling anyone who disagrees with these stories as ignorant or democracy hating right wing extremists.

So very insightful . As a new voter at the time. I didn’t understand all the bickering. But I remember Reagan, as Governor, was hard on Californians . I couldn’t see him doing anything good or better FOR California or the rest of the US. Landslide sure puts ‘Ronnie ‘ into perspective. So...Read full review »

Just finished the first episode and I’m hooked! Loving the content, a part of history not covered in your average us history class, but a very interesting lens to synthesize and connect to the world today. The music perfectly underscores each dramatic beat. Can’t wait for the next episode.
