Since when are lame British accents and Bond impersonations a substitute for Japanese study? And is Alex and his friends getting drunk on the podcast supposed to be some cutting edge technique to improve our retention of new vocabulary? After listening to this podcast I can only speak Japanese relating to drinking, yelling at people, drinking, making fun of people, drinking, and sound effects accompanying falling down stairs. Where are all those lessons about homework, hobbies, and all those other things that fill the volumes of Minna no Nihongo? If you want to learn Japanese, go to an izakaya and ask for mugi shochu rocku de; if you can't do this, listen to japanesepod 101, but if you want to sound like a half drunk Osakan, then this is the gravy!Read full review »

This is a very well structured and organized podcast for learning natural, casual Japanese. It gives you not only vocab and sentences to work with but also insight into the culture and history behind the language.
