Poor accent nixes decent content
I tried this podcast because of the wide variety of subjects and number of podcasts available but I couldn't keep going with it: Spencer's American-accented Spanish is very distracting to me and good pronunciation is key for new students. It was just too grating having grown up in San Antonio and traveled in Spanish-speaking countries, where fluid pronunciation of Spanish can be musical. I much prefer the Coffee Break Spanish series because the instructor's Spanish accent is excellent, and I enjoy his Scottish accent when he is speaking English. I think Spencer knows what he's talking about, and some of his information is useful, but his accent drove me toward other resources.Read full review »

I have recently downloaded all the episodes and the ones I have listened to thus far have been great. David Spencer does well by setting a pace that is comfortable and teaching to familiar contexts.
