The protesting junior doctors of Kolkata, after two failed attempts at talks with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, are now in her Kalighat residence for a third time. They have dropped their demand for a live telecast of the meeting, agreeing instead to a signed transcript of all the proceedings. The timing of the meeting is key. It comes a day before the Supreme Court reviews the CBI's progress in investigations into the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor at the RG Kar hospital which triggered these protests in the first place.
