Disappointing and quite simply awful
I really wanted to listen to the Cecil Rhodes episodes and indeed the series but I’m halfway through and I can’t take anymore. These two presenters aim to be unbiased and try to pretend they are but it’s quite simply impossible for them to even come close. What I find astonishing is Rhodes was a lot of things as all leaders are but he left a country with the tag line of ‘bread basket of Africa’ and dare I say in a better state than Robert Mugabe did who took back its freedom and then robbed it blind and left his people queuing to even hope to get a crumb let alone a loaf. Sure mugabe had a dream but it was a dream to make him and his odious wife (known in Paris as one of the biggest spenders in its couture history) multi billionaires whilst the rest of the world tried to keep it afloat with charity. My what fools we are. I have been involved in funding a school in Zim and have spent a lot of time there. It’s not just broken it’s beaten to the ground and it’s ongoing leaders continue mugabes legacy so the only outcome is absolute failure. Colonialism maybe a sin but so is dictatorial dictatorships and that’s now Zimbabwes legacy. These two need to stop with their nonsense word salads and take a long hard look at what non colonial dictators can do.

History for 5year olds; stretched out and filled in to maximise content for advertising but painfully simplified and ‘dramatised’. Such a shame.

As a physician who did not get time to take nearly enough history classes in college, I love podcasts for learning about how fascinating the characters of our past really are. There are many great podcasts for that purpose (1865 is amazing), and this one is an interesting take on the genre. I do...Read full review »
