An interesting story, crazy really. The hosts are quite painful though, especially the lady.

Hosts are painful, they’re somehow bough arrogant and incompetent. Quote from first episode talking speculated location of fraudster: …”hiding out in a hidden room, Anne Frank style” 🤦🏻‍♀️ Can’t believe that I have to say this but… except Anne Frank was a child and (critically) not a criminal.

Could have done without the constant chat about what she spent on what. Tedious.

Fascinating story made impossibly boring through terrible storytelling and even worse sound editing.

This could have been 3 episodes but they repeated themselves so much i kept thinking i was listening to the same episode on repeat

I don’t find the format flows very well, they’ll start telling you about something and then say more on this later and then they go back to something else. I find the story very interesting and like both presenters but the format is making it too hard to follow.

I couldn’t even get through the second episode. Painful. What kind of “journalist” uses words like “psychopathic” so flippantly? Are either of these fools psychologists? They’re not even journalists or writers worth being called that, so I’m guessing not. There has to be room in this story for...Read full review »

This series has been the latest that I’ve listened to whilst working from home. I had never heard this story before as I’m in the states so I was surprised to hear the outcomes. By the end of it I absolutely could not take any more of Anthony’s nonsense or horrid music. In a case such as this I...Read full review »

Loved this podcast, incredible events and enjoyed the presentation. Easy to listen to, but hard to believe it’s a true story!

Excellent podcast

The story is interesting enough to hold my attention but like many others I thought the storytelling was hard at times to listen to. I actually was ok with the male host, but the female host I could not get past… annoying voice and commentary. Melissa should have used some of that money for...Read full review »

YouTube was once a place with interesting video content, now it’s a window to influencers. I’m not interested in the awards this ‘journalist’ has or her history off success. The story about a con woman is interesting enough. You should just open with fact, and follow the facts. Simple as that.

Disappointed in this podcast, I expected a lot more! Waste of time to be honest!
Tayla1996 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 09/17/23
I don’t think I’m saying anything new here that other commenters haven’t already noted, but I found this podcast in equal parts frustrating and fascinating. The content was well-researched and well-collated (though I would expect that from two major Australian journalists). It went deep into...Read full review »

Have listened to this poddy not once but twice! Great listen, I love all the detail and the passion that has went into it!

In the spirit of constructive criticism, the review offered by ‘A rational reviewer’ on 6 May 2023 echoes my reaction to this podcast. I felt the half a dozen episodes I managed to listen to were more about the podcast team attempting to win some sort of prize or gain a following, instead of a...Read full review »

The hosts have completely misjudged the tone that this story deserves. They discuss life-destroying events as if it’s a comedy. A very strange approach. I realised halfway through episode 4 that they’d completely lost me so I did what I should have done 3 episodes before, and finally gave up.

I’d just finished ‘Shandee’s Story’ and ‘Shandee’s Legacy’, followed by ‘The Teacher’s Pet’, and ‘The Teacher’s Trail’, all researched and narrated by the genius of Hedley Thomas. These were unbelievably thrilling podcasts and 10/10 recommended - so I was looking for a replacement to ease my...Read full review »

I was super excited to dig into this unbelievable story… but I just can not get past the story telling. Only made it through a few episodes and had to turn it off. I’m hoping this is another podcast telling this story for me to listen to.

Often had to check if I was listening to an earlier episode as it was a lot of repetition

Really enjoyed this series. It was really well spoken and obviously really well researched and put together so good !! My heart goes out to all of her victims.

This podcast is truly disappointing, especially coming from two esteemed journalists. Normally, I greatly appreciate it when it is the investigative journalists who report a true crime story. But this is not it. The hosts’ mocking tone and their sensationalization of the details really undermine...Read full review »

A few days ago, I read in the news where Melissa Caddick had officially and finally been declared dead. Despite having a great interest in true crime, I hadn’t ever heard of her so I did a search for podcasts about the case and came across this one. While the story is quite interesting, I found...Read full review »

The weird gossipy 70’s morning show vibe of the hosts is beyond annoying. The fake conversations and pauses are of another era. Far too drawn out and gossipy.

Maybe I need more traditional story structure but within 15 minutes I was saying out loud ‘but who was she and what happened?’ Then one of the hosts said ‘you know how I love to digress’ and I gave up. Have no idea what was going on and felt it was going to remain frustrating. Note good reviews...Read full review »

Like many other reviewers here, I too have never felt so compelled to write a review. I have been listening to several ‘true crime’ podcasts recently - including the various works of Hedley Thomas (The Teacher’s Pet/The Teacher’s Trial, The Night Driver, Shandee’s Story - seasons 1 and 2), Josh...Read full review »

This is a very interesting story & worth a listen. But be warned - the female presenter talks like she’s reading a kids book on play school. She should stick to newspapers only.

Could have been condensed down to few episodes, way to much repetition,
classiccharm1 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/25/23
I get it, one is a TV journo and the other is a Newspaper Journo but like many others i thought the whole thing was let down by the constant repetition, like we were tuning in from last weeks TV episode and needed another reminder. This could have been done in half the episodes with just the...Read full review »

Good story but highly repetitive in the way it was presented. Luckily there was a fast forward button which got a lot of use. This series could have been completed in less than half the number of episodes.
Hifive496 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/19/23
Story could have been told in less than half the episodes. Frustrating to hear the same information over and over again without really getting anywhere. Had to stop listening. The storyline felt disjointed and confusing.

As both a journalist and communications advisor, I read a lot of negative comments about different podcasts ( I get the the freedom of speech) but it takes a lot of work to bring a podcast to people, explain the details, so people can really understand the subject. This is an interesting case that is told poorly by the hosts. Rather than any kind of objective discussion of the facts, it is instead the hosts roasting her in every episode , from childhood to education , purchases, text messages, what ever they could use to get a cheap joke. I was never in any doubt she had taken her own life. Given what she had done to literally everyone who loved her, I’m surprised it was ever in question.

This is an interesting story but poorly told. It is highly repetitive and you won’t be left wondering what the hosts think. They also try to be funny, but the jokes/comments are just boring.

This is the first time I’ve ever been moved to write a review in 10 years. That should say something. The story itself is fascinating and heartbreaking all the way around.
