Candid and Encouraging
Whenever I get discouraged about my own journey in non-monogamy, this podcast is a great place for me to find renewed hope as well as some practical tips to help get me back in the saddle. When I first started exploring non-monogamy, I found an online swinger forum with some very outspoken "expert" members who liked to say harsh things, chew up new members for asking "dumb" questions, etc. I got discouraged and wondered if there was a place for me in the non-monogamous and particularly the swinging world. Life on the Swingset gave me a much different, more inviting look at non-monogamy. I will admit that I didn't LOVE the podcast the very first time I listened. I liked it, but it wasn't until I had listened to a few episodes that I really started to love it. And that's because Cooper, Dylan, Ginger, and Shira all show their humanity and are refreshingly honest about the ups and downs of their own journeys as non-monogamists. I love, for example, Cooper's candor about his struggle with self-confidence in the poly dating scene and found I could really relate to him as he talked about that (check out episode #68). Finally, I love that the podcast is not just for swingers but really for anyone interested in the topic of non-monogamy in whatever form that may take. The podcast's inclusive spirit - inviting listeners to "climb on up" because "there's always a swing available" - continually reassures me of the beautiful openness of the open marriage / poly / swing / non-monogamy movement. I think Cooper and company are representing that movement quite well, and I would definitely point anyone interested in the topic to this podcast as a great place to start.Read full review »
