“you can go read other reviews about how great the narrative fiction is already in this podcast. but i'm here reviewing for another reason.
THERE IS A CANON NONBINARY CHARACTER WHO USES THEY/THEM PRONOUNS. THEIR NAME IS MOD AND I LOVE THEM. as a nonbinary person myself (who also uses they/them pronouns), i started shaking and crying when i heard them introduce themselves in episode 2. and they weren't misgendered for the whole rest of the episode!!!!!!! and the director person stood behind them when nikki questioned it!!!
i just don't think most people realize how HUGE this is for me and for all nonbinary people. i have to be up front about my pronouns EVERY DAY with new people, as mod so eloquently says, "just so it doesn't get weird later." i also work in the sciences and i don't know of any other out trans people in the entire chemistry department at my gigantic public university. JUST HAVING A CANON NONBINARY CHARACTER AND HAVE IT JUST TAKEN AS FACT AND THEN HAVE THEM TREATED LIKE A HUMAN PERSON FOR THE REST OF THE TIME IS...... i'm just crying because i've never known what it was like to see a nonbinary character in pop culture, ESPECIALLY ONE SO OPEN ABOUT USING NEUTRAL PRONOUNS!!!
