Hit and Miss and Miss. Updated
Some of the stories are amongst my favorites ever and the narration is usually very good. However many of the stories are attrocious. Many have no point but to reach new levels of weirdness and others have strongly amoral values (primarily as to how scientific advancement is evil and shouldn't be tried). Many others are just terrible in plot and form. In fairness many of the rest that I dislike are simply out of my demographic, with a strong orientation away from the subject's overwhelming core followers (white American males) and towards everything but. You won't find any of the masculine dashing rogues, explorerers, grim soldiers, and daring adventurer protagonists as one might expect from the genre. Instead it features almost exclusively female protagonists; prototypical females, ones that the average girl can relate to (as opposed to the typical genre female with male characteristics superimposed upon). It feels alot like having a bro's girlfriend trying to participate in video game night in contrast to a true nerd girl there to have fun (Hard to explain). Other perspectives include gays, lesbians, third world cultures (true and hardcore perspectives), and sub-cultural americans. To experience these unfamiliar perspectives makes for good lessons in humanity but lacks the immersion I would find with James Raynor, John Carter, Aragorn, and Richard Cipher. I now have a greater understanding of how the rest of the world feels about how us white males have dominated this universal genre and how we have oriented it to ourselves. I've had to lower my rating because the stories have become more polarized to a new sub-genre of sci-fi / fantasy that I greatly dislike. It's a sort-of non fantasy with fantasy elements forced in, usually in the form of an imaginary character personifying a protagonist's petty social problems. Maybe the quality has gone down hill due to the ever growing trend to prioritize demographics over quality. To all the fake liberals (unlike thinking liberals whose natural perview is science fiction) I'm not saying that any race, gender, or sexual orientation has better stories than another, but any time you narrow your selection criteria to one group over the whole, your going to lower your average quality.Read full review »

I listen to these podcasts to escape reality, to be entertained, to relax. Lately the stories have been getting political correct and preachy. The last episode made mention of micro aggressions, gender bias and other SJW topics that I am trying to escape. I enjoy the stories, they are...Read full review »
