Amazing
I was in the mood for a new fun podcast that I could just enjoy. This has totally hit the spot. Right from the first episode they've been epic and through provoking. I am a history junky, and this podcast usually takes me down roads that aren't as well trodden in my mind. I love textual analysis even though I rarely if ever do it, and listening to a deeper dissection of the books is like listening to Corey from the Mythgard Academy, only on historical works, and time periods I that I actually know like the back of my my hand. I can't wait to introduce some of the ideas in the great debate society at my work. And the songs are just... I have, not figuratively, but actually, broken out laughing out loud, during most of them. I want to get some of them just to listen to outside of the episodes. The one concluding Odysseus was amazing, and I am going to play the Song of Songs song at the rehearsal for my sister in law's wedding if it kills me (which it might, they're both Army, and excellent shots). All in all, it has been amazing so far, and I can't wait to dive through the rest. I've listened to 25 episodes in just over 5 days, they're that good.Read full review »

Dr Doug has a new and endlessly entertaining podcast, at the intersection of literature and history. The production and execution is just wonderful, on the level of Radiolab or any professionally produced show. He manages to transform what could have been dry-as-dust material into an educational...Read full review »

It took me awhile to get through the first few episodes. The episodes were kind of long, and it took me awhile to get used to the podcasters style. By the time I got to Homer, I was hooked and started skipping other podcast episodes to listen to this one
