Mr
I write this review after listening to episode 26. I've been meaning to write a review for a number of weeks now but it looks like one of the suggestions I was going to make will be implemented in the future as Mike and Sincere announced at the end of this episode that they were going to break the show into 2 parts. The length of the show (2hrs) wasn't necessarily the problem for me rather that the post-guest hour could use a little revitalization which I'll discuss a bit further down. I found Mike Mahler's work on hormone optimization really important and useful personally and I tracked down as many interviews with him as possible (plenty are available on his own website) to hear what he had to say. Noticing that he had his own podcast going I was immediately interested. I've listened to most of them and so far and have been returning to them whenever they are released. The main focus of the show would be "life optimization" and the subject of the guests generally revolves around this topic. While the quality of the interviews are quite good with their conversational style there is a tendency for the show to get a little "ranty" and repetitive afterwards when the guys fall into a discussion of their favorite list of dislikes i.e, other people in the fitness industry, people's methods and activities in business, people's attitudes in general plus there's a fair bit of "I wouldn't/don't do it that way" commentary from the two hosts. I certainly don't mind hearing their opinions on things but it's the repetition of the same opinion show after show that I find a bit tedious. I think their second hour is going to require a bit of structure going forward and maybe a bit of creative thinking is required to develop some segments to keep it fresh. Certainly I enjoy listening to them answering listener questions and they could flesh this out a bit more as it's pretty engaging. Overall I enjoy the positive attitude of the LLA podcast. I share their desire to keep learning and I appreciate their expertise in the fitness area and the interesting guests they bring to the show. There's always a few laughs and funny observations and the show gels well due to the friendship and good natures of the shows hosts. They both seem to be good guys and if they can keep the show fresh and progressing I'll certainly keep listening.Read full review »
