“I honestly tried to like this. I listened over the course of the season. Keith had on some guests I found respectable. He clearly has some sources in the NBA/around the team that he breaks *some* news. However, I don't think he knows enough about basketball to be able to have a podcast like this.
A couple of things that really bothered me. Around the trade deadline, Keith rambled on for multiple episodes on why Jahlil Okafor had not been traded yet. Despite providing no reporting, he endlessly speculated about a team wanting to have a physical before agreeing to a trade, despite the fact that this is not how trades work.
Also, today Keith said the Sixers should not trade Dario Saric for Kristaps Porzingis. He managed to downplay the MCW trade in his opening. He said they should not make the trade because it is time to move forward. This makes absolutely zero sense for many reasons, but is the exact type of strange, clueless analysis that Keith frequently provides.
The job of a beat writer appears to be very difficult. You have to travel a lot, cover games quickly, and ask players and coaches the same questions every day. This is not an excuse for having senseless opinions. These are not hot takes. They are just incorrect takes. There are many motivated writers and aspiring podcasters who could do a much better job. The locked on network should get someone else to do this.”Read full review »
