There are a lot of holes in the stories. For example, no description of trials, sentences, how long they were imprisoned, or how they escaped. Some of these stories leave the listener with a lot of unanswered questions

White Karens faced the music when they committed crime abroad that they thought they could get away with because of their self-assumed superior race

Was so excited to listen to this podcast , first one I have listened to is “Backstabbed in Thailand “ I was so disappointed as it didn’t say how long they had to serve in Thailand or anything about the charges Kim Hood had to face in the US. It was like watching a great episode of Law and Order...Read full review »

If you need a pick-me-up, listening to most of these stories is just the thing. Some of these people have got to be the most dim witted bipeds to have ever tread the surface of this green earth. I’ve made my fair share of mistakes, to be sure, but in my 41 years on this earth I have never...Read full review »

I enjoyed the episodes about the people that were more or less innocent when being locked up and hearing of their feelings and how they overcame the ordeals but I had a really hard time listening to the the ones of people committing crimes: - the repeat drug mule complaining about how traumatic...Read full review »

He says he knew that he was doing human sex trafficking and never going to see these girls again AND a thousand bucks for each trip- with no regrets. Horrible human being- sad he was caught for drugs and not for ruining lives. Wonder how life turned out for those girls. He should have died in...Read full review »

Escape from Argentina ends in a total cliffhanger. I Googled the story to find out the latest update. This show aired after developments in the story. Would make a much better ending to wrap it up, as far as what happened

This was so sickening to hear Lisa laugh about everything she did to Kim. She was not sorry. What a disgusting human being. Love this podcast on a positive note

privileged people traveling to third world countries.... what do you expect. Do you walk into a lions den and expect to pet a lion?

I’ve listened to every episode and now I’m freaked out that I missed something. Are you coming back with more episodes? 😊

Love your stories! Excellent!

I truly do. The concept is really compelling. But each episode seems less and less produced. Like explained in other reviews, I understand these stories come from a television show. But instead of just playing random sound bites from the show, how about presenting the information in a new...Read full review »

The Argentina episode is great and then leaves you hanging without any contextual framing. Many episodes have gaping narrative holes - obvious questions that go unanswered. I’ve lost my patience with this series. I’ve let it disappoint so many times. The stories are compelling but nearly always...Read full review »

Interesting stories, but so many of them are the exact same story. I honestly couldn’t tell you the difference between most of the stories. Usually they involve some person who “had no idea what they were getting into” when they decide to become a drug smuggler.

I love love love this podcast! Really well done and enjoyable to listen to. I can’t believe how many people are smuggling drugs! And traveling in dangerous jungles! The only thing I’m not a fan of is how easily some of the rich, privileged people get off the hook for some serious crimes. But I’m...Read full review »

Much left untold..abrupt ending to “escape from Argentina” is the best example of this
Alagrancosa via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/15/20
Listen, I know these come from a show so not everything is easy to translate to a podcast, however, it seems like you don’t even try! Background information and important details are always missing so these are often disjointed and boring. Get it together!

I dislike how the intro gives the whole story away (way to long), and wish that more time was spent on when they were actually “locked up abroad” like the title. The editing has a lot to be desired but the topics are super interesting. I keep listening but am rarely satisfied that I got the...Read full review »

The podcast version leaves a lot to be desired. Most episodes don’t even tell about their experience in court or jail. If they do it’s nothing more than just a general “it was bad.” Better on TV, but worth a listen if you’re needing a podcast.

Season two is a collection of the stupidest people in the world! Seems like each story portrays a bigger idiot, it’s downright frustrating. Season one was better. Still going through season two though!

It was all right but not great. The sound editing was super obvious.
MerritG via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/29/20
I absolutely love the content. I agree with the other review that they end abruptly though. The story is 100% about what lead up to the crime or kidnapping, then time while in captivity. Zero information about how they were rescued or whatever. With all that being said I absolutely DESPISE the...Read full review »

I listened to quite a few episodes a while back, and I’ll admit they were good stories. But I noticed a disturbing throughline, namely that people largely from the US and Europe who commit ACTUAL crimes in other countries think they have every f’ing right to not be punished for said crimes. I’ve listened to 4 episodes so far from the first two seasons. The stories are compelling, but the endings happen suddenly with no exploration of how they came about. It’s like the cavalry came to the rescue. The listener is left to wonder what happened on that side of the story to bring about...Read full review »

Suddenly yesterday all the episodes in season 1 and 2 are no longer available just the most recent released and a bonus ep. disappointed, likely some kind of pay wall.

I’m 3 episodes in and I’m deleting this one from my collection. Are these supposed to be “real peoples” stories? Especially the “Busted in Bali” story...he escaped how many times and he kept stumbling across prison guards and police everywhere he went? Give this podcast a pass.

The São Paulo Brendan Cosso episode is halarious, I just love how this clown gets busted and thinks his daddy can just pay them off and he gets to go free. I don’t think his sentence should have been too harsh but the good Ol’ American thinking that money will set me free is gold.

There are some very good stories but there are a few that leave you wondering how was she set free? Did that CJ man get caught and so on
