The one podcast I have to listen to every week
Since I got hooked on the Longform Podcast, somewhere around episode 40, I have slowly gotten interested in a lot of podcasts but this has been the one show I absolutely have to listen to every week. I’m always excited to see who is the guest and In the time between Wednesdays I have gone back and listened to most of the ones I missed. All three hosts are excellent interviewers with different sensibilities and curiosities which bring different angles to their respective episodes. The guest list is diverse and I always feel like I learn something from them. It has been cool to see the pool of guests widen and become more surprising as the podcast has grown. I always leave each episode with new tabs of things I need to read which I have just heard about for the first time, whether it is archive stuff from before I was into narrative journalism or newer stuff from a writer I wasn’t familiar with. I would imagine they hear this a lot, but as a young writer/reader this podcast has felt important to me for the opportunity to hear from so many great established journalists. I’m very interested in people’s processes and journeys and this show often provides a window into those areas of writers who would never otherwise talk about themselves. Whether or not you are a writer, if you are interested in the world of narrative journalism there is no better show.
