Awesome storytelling
Updating my original review to say S4 was the best told yet. It’s hard to describe how good this podcast is but I don’t think anyone else is doing true crime serials at the level of Dark Hills. Dana Goodyear does a great job immersing you in time and place. I tend to want to look up pictures of people if I’m really sucked into a true story, but I also found myself looking up pictures of Malibu when I listened to this. She gets interesting people who were there to help tell the story and gives them free reign to speculate but doesn’t give over narrative control to them- she keeps the story tracking with her own narration.

More reviews of Lost Hills: Dark Canyon
Loved episodes 1&2, and just listened to episode 3 — and it was fantastic. The interview with Erica Wu, Tristan Beaudette’s wife, was heartbreaking, but handled with compassion and empathy. The unfolding of this case keeps me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait for episode 4.

Loved episodes 1&2, and just listened to episode 3 — and it was fantastic. The interview with Erica Wu, Tristan Burdette’s wife, was heartbreaking, but handled with compassion and empathy. The unfolding of this case keeps me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait for episode 4.

I enjoy the content of the show but there are more commercials (and long ones) than in any podcast I listen to.
