Dramatizing Rumors are Not Good True Crime Reporting
I listen to SO much true crime, but have never been compelled to leave a review before. This podcast is so excitedly and desperately trying to force the potential for foul play in this case and irresponsibly doxing people who are innocent until proven guilty (though creepily womanizing). For having the good sense of putting a Spanish speaking women on a case about women in a Spanish speaking country, I’m so disappointed at how little cultural sensitivity and care they took otherwise. There’s not enough pointing to foul play or an accident, even after all their work. And there is no consideration of how the investigator’s privileged position, or how the dependency of many of their interviewees on foreign impressions of their town, screw their sources.
