Good for Men too!
Hello and Welcome to my review of the love/life connectin podcast! I may be one of a limited number of men that listen to this podcast, but although it is marketed as for women it really is valuable to anyone looking at improving their relationships. I have listened to a number of podcasts on relationships and found that they follow a similar formula. Interview some other dating/love/life coach. Hear how they came up with whatever system they use and how it applies to the listerners and then promote it. The messages are generally the same: If there is abuse get help, Value yourself and love yourself, and don't date people that trigger you. Although these are helpful messages and the different ways coaches/experts go about addressing them have been somewhat insightful I have always been left with "What does that actually look like?" Veronica actually interviews her clients (and to the brave, courageous women that bare their wounds and souls you deserve heaps of praise and credit) I have gained far more insights. In particular the inner child focus of her coaching is so helpful, and the focus on self-compassion. We always need more self-compassion. It has been fun listening to Veronica's history and evolution as well. One thing that I haven't heard mention yet (and I have listened to about 30 episodes so, appologies if I just missed them) is attachment theory. With the focus on inner child work, I would have expected to hear more about attachment as it provides such an important background for the core issues from childhood, and why people may attach in romantic relationships in a secure way, an anxious/preoccupied way ("people pleasers" in the podcast) or dissmissive/avoidant (I am not sure if this is the saboteur grouping she uses vs. the Narcissits). In general I think the term Narcissit when describing a certain grouping of men in the podcast is probably a less accurate description of the dismissive/avoidant type. I have dated a number of emotionally unavailable women and so alot of the podcasts focused on these subjects have been helpful. Good luck to all those working on themselves! I imagine you will find some good episodes here to move you further along.Read full review »
