It bears repeating that...
...no matter how you try to explain it away, if you are a not of African American descent and profit from a tradition that was borne from and necessitated by slavery, you are a cultural appropriator. Hosts, we don't care that you're Jewish or about the Pennsylvania Dutch and indigenous influences in Hoodoo, what Black person enabled your delusion, etc. I ask people coming across this podcast to be prudent about where they get their information. Ask yourself what could possibly motivate certain people to delve into a tradition like Hoodoo. The hosts actually seem generally well-informed but, as if the appropriation isn't enough, the audio is very low quality, they always seem to be peddling their wares, and Cat in particular has a way of speaking where every word that tumbles from her mouth is dripping with smugness. This podcast is a total miss, from concept to execution. Don't bother!Read full review »
