The 'Fresh Air' of Gaming
It seems to me most podcasts feature of group of friends jawboning, entertaining each other more than me. Ludology is not one of these. It is entertaining, yes, but mostly it is insightful, knowing and illuminating of its subject: board games. Whether you are a gamer who likes to win, or a game designer who wants to understand your medium better, this is a must listen. Each episode takes apart one aspect of games – complexity, balance, auctions etc. – and puts it under a microscope to examine all the moving parts. The hosts are exceedingly knowledgable and I am envious of the huge number of different game they seem to have played and the rules mechanics they seem to have memorized. As a game designer I can't tell you how many breakthroughs I've had walking across town to pick up my kids listening to Ludology. It is simply the best Podcast on games, and I listen to them all.Read full review »

I enjoy hearing a bit more about games rather than just the reviews.

I've been listening to The Dice Tower podcast for quite some time and have always enjoyed his segments, gives you ton of information and explains how game mechanics and and things work, always leave feeling like I've learned a little or at least gives me something to think about.Read full review »
