Way too much prose
The episodes between 3 and 11 are really interesting and got me invested, but season 2 is just so much rambling and prose. I don’t understand nor appreciate how Anna can talk about boring mundane philosophy while [spoiler] literally being surrounded by a supernatural entity and even in a completely different dimension, it really takes out the tension and continuity. The ‘romance’ between Anna and Mabel is more codependent and unhealthy than the author realizes; I want more queer leads too but its hard to root for them when they project like crazy and yell at one another practically every episode long before they even have a real conversation. If this was an exploration of codependency in horrible situations that’d be very interesting, but we’re lead to believe they fell in love during a hugely important chapter we never actually heard, and what little truth we know is scattered between prose and more prose. As much as I want to love it, I just can’t follow these series anymore. Plus I have to constantly adjust the volume to hear tiny clues that are sometimes be followed by loud noises, which is just frustrating.
