In 2011 Scott Aukerman and the late Harris Wittels stumbled upon a nearly perfect concept for a podcast. Select a fandom, pit a devout enthusiast verse a cynical skeptic and watch the hilarity ensue. Where their work with Analyse Phish fell short was that they were missing an Allen, I mean a moderator.
I doubt Jonathan, Josef, or Allen have ever listened to the aforementioned podcast, but they follow a similar formula that makes their biweekly discussions, entertaining, informative, and sometimes infuriating.
Jonathan; the quintissential Marvel fan boy, selects a weekly topic, typically a character, but sometimes a storyline or other diversion, researches, and presents a compelling arguement about what makes it a compelling part of the Marvel universe.
Joseph then counters doing his best to dismantle his counterparts arguement.
Allen keeps the train on course while adding flavour, insight, and sometimes sound effects!
I initially glommed onto their program because it was a fun way to refresh my memory on charachters I may have forgotten, but overtime the installments have become so much more. The show also offers insight to the workings of the comics industry and social commentary on the shortcomings and advancements both from within (Marvel) and from without (the fans).
To top all of this off I can honestly attest that all of the best comic runs and story lines I've read over the past eighteen months all came from Jonathan's recomendations.
