March Manipulator
This has become one of my all time favorite podcasts. Always excited to see a new episode out. A few notes to the hosts: Trauma isn't required to be a specialist. The line that I think confused you was Kurapika's teacher saying (paraphrased) "most people do not change their nen type–but the type can change, usually after a big life event like a traumatic experience." This was said about becoming a specialist, and manipulators and conjurers have the greatest chance of developing specialist abilities cause they often have weird abilities already. Specialists aren't always overpowered–it just means their nen ability is really weird/specialized, though being very weird can often be very scary to fight when information is so important. Water divination can vary per person. Pitou made the leaf wither but other specialists might have something else. Killua made the water sweet but another transmuter might make the water really sour or change in other ways. Personally, I don't see Bisky or Wing as malevolent. I think the theme of dangerous teachers is part of the larger HxH theme "be careful what you wish for." Bisky might be giving them dangerous training but if they wish to beat greed island it's the sort they need. Though there are definitely extremely dangerous/evil teachers–eg Illumi/Hisoka. To tie off my too long review, my ability would be to manipulate air and take advantage of fluid mechanics. Air is so light but can do a whole lot with the right push.Read full review »

Really enjoyed the first episode. The cast has great light analysis of the show and are so fun to listen to. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the Hunter X Hunter season and hopefully many more shows to come!Read full review »

When I watched HunterXHunter I basically binged the whole thing and really didn't analyze it much. Listening to this show is a really wonderful way to think back on all the strange/awesome things about the show and how it fits in the Shonen genre as a whole. The joy with which the friends...Read full review »
