Michael and Us succeeds because it has found its own niche, offering a cooler, less-enraged style of 'dirtbag left politics' which only serves to amplyfy the hosts' unrelenting cynicism and wit as the latest news filters in week by week or whichever movie/television show they happen to be discussing and parsing through with wry commentary.
