Solid Content but excessive ad-breaks
Good content for those who enjoy true-crime genre documentary-style podcasts. I greatly appreciate pods that go to the effort of interviewing (and otherwise using) primary sources and using those interviews in the pod. That said, each individual ad break on this pod is about a solid 2 minutes of prepackaged ads. On the Alaska season, that means about (and greater than) 4 minutes per episode, and on the missing on 9/11 series (the other season) most episodes actually had 3 ad breaks, and I think they had at least 6 minutes per episode of ad breaks. That’s probably the largest ad break to episode content in the pod for literally any of the hundreds (maybe thousands) of pods I’ve ever listened to. I have no problem listening to ad breaks, even pre packaged sound bite ads and such, but they really are very excessive in length and at the end of many episodes I was left feeling shorted on content in general, and more specifically felt there was minimal content between the mid roll ad break and the ads at the end, and by the way, multiple of the ads would be repeating parts of the ads and cut off in the middle creating weird nonsense advertising.

More reviews of Missing in Alaska
Poor narrative, journalism that doesn’t feel objective and lacks connective tissue. I wanted to buy in to the theory but there was never even a semblance of enough supporting evidence. This podcast takes a testimony from decades ago and adds nothing to it despite trying very hard.

I have a lot of respect for this journalist and the lengths he will go to investigating his “Missing in….” podcasts (the 9/11 one was thorough and haunting). I took off one star for all the times we are to endure 3 full minutes of advertiser content about whisper thin, textured magnum condoms,...Read full review »

I had never heard of this possible conspiracy. Host takes us through all the facts to arrive at a possible conclusion. Loved the way you did a review every so often... it’s hard not to get lost in the names/places and facts vs. theory.
