“I would really like to like this podcast, but there are a handful of things that rub me the wrong way.
1. The shows are INCREDIBLY formulaic. In every interview the hosts ask something along the lines of, "What three things do our listeners need to know about <guest's subject matter> in order to survive certain death?" I guess they're trying to keep on topic and focused, but some topics deserve more to be put into a "three answer box".
2. Some of the guests just don't quite seem legit to me. I'm not calling anyone out, because I'm merely a student, not an expert. That said, "experts" that make mistakes like refering to magazines as clips, or mispronouncing the word "cache" just send up red flags.
3. The ads and the intro are kind of over the top.
4. The idea that a survival expert and gun guy would willingly live in New York seems unusual. It's not like NY just turned anti-gun, they've been that way for a long time.
If you want this kind of info, there are better places to get it.
General Survival info with a heavy focus on homesteading and permaculture: Jack Spirko's The Survival Podcast.
Combat stuff: James Yeager's Youtube channel.
Intelligence: The Forward Observer podcast.
Communications: sparks31's blog or the FoTime Podcast
That said, I still listen to this podcast when I run out of other stuff to listen to. It's not all bad, and there are some good nuggets in there, but make sure your BS detectors are functioning, and verify, verify, verify any info given with another source.”Read full review »
