Podcast of 2017
This is a beautifully produced podcast. The narration is perfect, it's interesting and it's a true to the Gimlet quality I've come to trust. But it's also kind of a mystery. It's about the life of someone whose now gone, and the wake of their legacy. It's a spring in the dessert of true-crime inspired podcasts (I mean, regardless of what you think happened, it's a crime he's gone...) that's not about a girl getting killed. (Usually preppy, fairly attractive, and white or some kind of light/hi-shade, if were being honest. The "killables".) This is about a real man that came from a real place, and the part he played in how we all see that world. Also and mostly, thank you for the healthy dose of hiphop-culture history. This is wonderful from every perspective.Read full review »

This is a new flavor of podcast storytelling: a fresh one. The way sound and production mesh with the spoken story is irresistible really. Bomb story and bomb music. Double the magic. Don't miss it. This is easy listening, this is fun listening, this is compelling listening. DOPERead full review »
