Great horror with a bizarro edge
Monster Porn is one of the rare instances of a creative project that lives up to its own hype and avoids the genre pitfalls and tired conventions that drag down its contemporaries. This is not your typical horror podcast. There is an overarching narrative involving the occult hijinks and paranormal adventures of the narrators Matt and Bret as they encounter horrors ranging from a demonically possessed teacup pig to a sinister AI. Often, these episodic adventures are more humor than horror, but they serve to let the viewer know that the world of Monster Porn is a little weirder and a little darker than your typical horror podcast. The real content of Monster Porn, the stories, is well crafted and finely narrated. These are not the creepypastas and "true" stories that you're used to. These are stories that manage to combine fantastical ideas and horror tropes, and then turn all of it on its head in a way that is entertaining and unexpected. A perfect example is Episode 4: The Merdmaid, in which a downtrodden musician falls in love with a mermaid living in the filth of a waste treatment plant. What might be a predictable love story with a monster girl in less capable hands twists and turns as it explores alternate evolutionary tracks and uncovers a violent, drug-fueled conspiracy to make sure that nobody ever learns what really happens to what you flush down the toilet. The closest thing I can compare it all to is some of the work of bizarro writer Carlton Mellick III, but the truth is that Monster Porn is not like anything that I've listened to or read before. If you are a fan of horror, if you're tired of derivative and unimaginative storytelling, and if you're willing to cross the threshold and get a little weird, then you need to listen to Monster Porn.Read full review »

I’ve been around since the beginning of this podcast and the show has improved nearly each week. The voice actors, writers and skits are fun. The stories are well written, original and weird. They are mostly horror and completely awesome.

I love this podcast. It seems like they haven’t made anything in a while which is such a shame. The writing is funny, as well as twisted and creepy at times. I really hope they make more as I am bingeing the episodes and will run out soon!
