This is so poorly written and painful to listen to. I am an avid follower of true crime and am not easily disturbed. This podcast was isn’t about telling stories well or taking a deeper dive into the minds of criminals. It’s really only about being shocking for the sake of being shocking. It...Read full review »

This is just vile and weird.

Seems like they significantly sacrificed the quality of the overall podcast to fill an episode quota. More than half the episodes seem like they were desperate to find other murderers to do episodes on. Pretty disappointing because the ripper of Rostov ones and monstruo of the Andes are...Read full review »

The cases are interesting, the way it’s presented is great, I just love it. Can’t wait for season 2!

It can be tough to listen to at times, but tells the story in a very different and visual way.

I sure hope that those messed up freaks of nature inmates that have been locked up don’t have access to these podcasts as I’m sure these pedophiles are the only ones enjoying this. This is just gross. Shame on all of these channels for even carrying crap like this. No wonder Wondery canned you....Read full review »

Well produced. Well researched. Incredible gut wrenching stories. Keep up the work!

This is the worst. They did hype it too much. I turned it off after 5 minutes. I’m not surprised by all the negative reviews. Hope they take the hint from all the reviews which basically say “stay in your lane, bros”. Mike just stop with the drama voice, and all the pauses, you do it on S&S...Read full review »

If your looking for a different spin on true crime, this is the show for you. I am a huge fan of S&S and after listening to the monstrou previews, Mike has definitely delivered and then some. Although while at work, I did have to check my headphones to be sure no one else was hearing what I was...Read full review »

Sorry dudes. Not my bag. Love S&S but this was boring - overproduced.

Some things just don’t need to made. This podcast is one of those things.

I had high hopes for this one because I did sometimes enjoy S&S but so couldn’t get through 3 episodes. I just find it boring - it is like a bad audiobook. I was looking forward to listening to this on roadtrips. ☹️

I love true crime. I loved Sword and Scale. My mom listened and was like “oh dear God, I could hardly make it through The Butcher.” Then I started listening to it right after listening to the new Chris Watts confessions tapes (that needs to be a S&S btw). Oh my goodness! I physically gagged while...Read full review »

I have listened to a few true crime podcasts and couldn’t quite get into them but this is absolutely wonderful. I managed to listened to all 133 episodes of S&S in like a month and then decided I’d give this a try hoping to have something that might make my stomach turn. I did not get that, but...Read full review »

I purposefully waited until season one concluded so I would have a chance to listen to everything they had to offer before writing this review. Every one star review hits the nail on the head. Overly dramatic, boring and unnecessary details. Poorly written. 2 part episodes for a 5 minute story.

Pretty full-on cases but excellent effects and production. These guys are BORN story tellers. Chilling as it is, they bring into the psyche of the most troubled minds of this century.

Meh
Mike Boudet is a great narrator but the writing for these stories feels juvenile.

I fell sleep Listening to this. It’s sounds so forced and fake. Because of that I don’t find it scary as promised. Sword and Scale is scary to me because it’s real. I’ll miss S&S. :(

Great Podcast. In depth story telling and brutal detail gives you a first hand look at how deeply disturbed some of our modern day monsters truly were. If you’re into rainbows and butterflies this probably isn’t for you.

After listening to the first episode I really did think it was a little pretentious. A bit wordy; like someone had got excited with the synonym tool. But, being bored on maternity leave I persevered, and I’m SO glad I did. Having listened to the rest of the season I have changed my review to 5*....Read full review »

I really tried to give this a chance, but I had to keep asking myself the writers intentions. If you’re a fan of true crime, this isn’t for you. Honestly, I don’t think it’s appropriate for anyone. This podcast is just good...in my opinion. Very dark & sometimes extremely disturbing. But, I still listen to it. Guess that says more about me than the podcast. I heard that you will no longer be able to air your podcasts. I am disappointed. A few of them were a bit much, but I always had the option to turn them off if I wanted to. The way they pretend to tell “compelling” stories then to make fun of the people who were murdered is disgusting. Then they stand on their higher than though soap box about anyone who calls them out on it is laughable. Pornographic murder. These guys should not be on apple podcasts.

I was ready to be a big fan! No one can argue that sword and scale is amazing, and I like dark topic – although Luna can be quite self-indulgent. And that’s exactly what this pod is, very self-indulgent. I fancy myself a good writer too, but… The ridiculous narrative reads similar to when you...Read full review »

Well, now that this is gone, we’ll call the genre untrue crime. Will that help you sleep better at night? Why didn’t you just unsub or just not listen. Why I hate and love the internet. I love it because I get to hear a quality podcast such as this, and one that opened my ears to the killer storytelling of dark topic and westside fairytales. Yes, if you are expecting S&S, you’ll be disappointed. If you are looking for something new and terrifying, this will not disappoint. I don’t understand why the reviews are so bad.. of course it’s too dark and twisted it’s meant to be from the killer perspective. I did need to pause a few times because it was so graphic but still very interesting to see different cases in a crazy persons view.

Just brilliant, really gives you different perspectives and a reality to the thought processes people may have who commit hideous crimes. Such a brilliant work of art, the writing, the storytelling and the “debrief” episode afterwards, really fascinating:)
