Tanika Valburn is a journalist by trade who is also the founder of the White Dress Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of uterine fibroids and ensuring that anyone who suffers from fibroids is able to manage life. Ashley Gardner is a project manager at Google by day and content creator by night. She is passionate about equity and diversity and uses her digital platform to talk about lifestyle, including her experience getting a hysterectomy at the age of 32.
In this episode, Tanika and Ashley explain what fibroids are and why it is so important, especially for Black women, to have this conversation more frequently and openly. Then, they explain the surgical and medical terms commonly associated with fibroids in a more digestible way as Ashley opens up about her personal experience.
