Timely cast promises controversy, give it time, though.
This is an ambitious and promising podcast. As a historian I appreciate the revisionism, and this WP team figuring out the “true” intentions through document evidence. The ambitious part is that they are looking into 3 decades prior to the 60s space race, and “sci-fi and scientists” changing peoples minds about space travel. The cliffhanger is good—bad unethical science, politics, it’s good. The cons: I was a little disappointed that most of the first episode was exposition about the ‘cast and it didn’t talk about the sci-fi enough. The dream wasn’t contextualized. Perhaps the WP team is still figuring out pacing and when to display their evidence. Final critique: it’s been 10 days since the last episode. In podcast terms that is an eternity and they would probably do themselves a favor ... To post every week. Again, this is promising and it’s a timely cast.

More reviews of Moonrise
Keeps promising a story but delivers nothing but portentous words and authorial overreach. I just want the story. Just tell the story. Stop promising me the moon and giving me a paper plate.

And yes, wish she were more conversational in tone like she is in interviews and less over-enunciated scripted. Give me more of...Read full review »

I almost forget it’s non-fiction when listening and not a sci-fi adventure in itself. The blend between the two is intriguing. And I actually love the slow pace and eerie sound design. It may be a bit cheesy at time but it sets up the mood well.
