A Balanced, Authentic Approach to LDS issues
Let's face it. The LDS church has some delicate historical, doctrinal, and social issues. I spent years putting these issues on the proverbial shelf, but things came to a head during my senior year at BYU. I could not ignore those issues anymore, and wanted to find places where I could learn about LDS issues in a safe and truthful manner. After delving in many sites and podcasts in the bloggernacle community, I think Mormon Stories gives the most balanced approach to Mormon issues. Having listened to every one of the Podcasts up through mid 2013, I can honestly say that John does a good job with interviewing people that represent very different facets of Mormonism. He is also very honest about acknowledging that this podcast partly represents a large part of his personal faith journey. In some episodes, you can tell he has a negative attitude towards the church, and in other episodes (especially the more recent ones) he has a much more positive attitude towards the church. Some views expressed on this podcast will resonate with true believers in Mormonism, while other views will be expressed as very extreme, and will be difficult for true believers to hear. If you are afraid of losing your faith in the LDS church, this podcast isn't for you. This podcast is for those who are willing to admit the vulnerability of their own beliefs; those who are interested in the refreshing process of pursuing truth rather than becoming retrenched in dogmatism. When I came upon a crossroads in my faith journey, the Mormon Stories podcast helped me to see enough down each road to help me make an informed decision about which path to take. I can't thank John Dehlin enough for his courage, persistence, and patience to help me along the way.Read full review »

John has done an excelant and professional job in this podcast. This has saved my marriage, life, and spirituality at a time when i thought I was all alone. Every mormon who has come across anti-mormon/ historically disturbing issues with the lds church should listen to this.
