Love it so much. The general public (i.e. me) rarely get a glimpse into the science behind the true crime so many of us are fascinated with, and this is a beautiful format. Carla’s eloquence, enthusiasm and genuine curiosity is so perfect for the subject matter. I’ve recommended this to so many...Read full review »

… the narrator at the beginning of the first episode didn’t say: “The victim is fictional”. Yet the description of the show says it “takes you from the mortuary to the scene of a crime to find out how a body got to her slab”. It obviously doesn’t. Is it just me, or is that complete and utter...Read full review »

Pretty much said everything I wanted to say in the title, it was really interesting and I’m sad that there aren’t more episodes.

Edited to add: I miss this podcast and would like series 2! I love this subject, and the experts and Carla herself are brilliantly knowledgeable and passionate. But I do have one big gripe, and that is that it’s over dramatic. For one, it’s comes across as slightly disrespectful to the victims...Read full review »

Carla Valentine brings back to life the people who arrive in her mortuary. Science peels back their existence layer by layer. A fascinating and empathetic story. If you enjoy CSI you’ll love this!

Like a true crime series, except fictional. There’s a crime presented and investigated, with each forensic specialist and their job described in detail. Fascinating.

Some people have sought to compare this to the excellent Shreds but it’s a completely different beast... these are short fictional episodes focussing on a forensic mystery, but with real scientists delivering the narrative. Plus the series is much more focussed on the forensic science and...Read full review »

Loving this podcast, a number of little mini series covering various fictional cases, from body to solving the case. I don’t really understand the negative reviews on here, there are thousands of podcasts out there and I don’t think we are all meant to like all of them #bekind

The Narrators voice sounds like she’s talking to a bunch of 5 year olds

Couldn’t listen more than 10 mins. Learn from the podcast Shreds. Shreds is outstanding.

The podcast may be really good but I’ll never know as I can’t bear the narrator’s delivery. It is very similar to the delivery on BBC’s Missing Cryptoqueen which I also really struggled with. Maybe BBC podcasters all go to nightclass to learn the “correct” method of speaking. Turns me right off

I’ve followed Carla Valentine on Instagram for a long time, and being able to hear her weave these stories is so amazing. The podcast is engrossing with a perfect touch of gross anatomy. She details everything perfectly, from the storyline to the minutiae of pathology. If you are interested...Read full review »

It just doesn’t get any better than this. A woman who knows her stuff and takes you along for the ride without a bunch of unnecessary fluff. The best is finally here-and it was truly worth the wait.

As a forensic scientist myself with an interest in forensic medicine, this podcast is wonderful! So informative, interesting and an accurate glimpse into the many branches of forensic science. So impressed and so excited for more episodes!
