I do enjoy this podcast most of the time. It’s unfortunate that it’s so poorly written. (Note to Mr. Ballen: You don’t itch yourself, you scratch yourself. You made this error in two episodes.)

If you find episode 29 interesting there is a new documentary out- Poisoned Ground, available on YouTube. Also, a new book, Paradise Falls. As a child born in Love Canal, I recommend both.

I recently ran across Mr. Ballen on YouTube. One story and I was hooked. He was advertising this new podcast in some of the newer YouTube videos. I couldn’t wait to finish my binging, Mr, Ballen has a way of telling stories that is almost magical! Medical Mysteries is absolutely excellent in...Read full review »

The Mr Ballin podcast is awesome. This is just an extension of that so it is also awesome.

I love the medical content but you need to have a medical consultant review your content for accuracy. Some of the actions of medical/nursing staff you add in would not happen in real life. I do love a medical mystery and will continue to listen, you just need to tweak it a bit.

The narratives are captivating and intriguing, yet the prose lacks refinement. The writing exhibits traits reminiscent of a high school composition, characterized by excessive repetition, verbosity, and unnecessary details. For instance, instead of "She went to a cupboard and pulled out a box...Read full review »

The only thing I’m still curious about is how much all this medical care cost?! 7 months in hospital in the US I can only imagine the secondary pain that caused these families.

Love the stories but don’t love how a lot of credit is given to doctors when caring for patients. There is a healthcare team, doctors don’t do the whole job.

Storytelling is very stiff and obviously being read from a script. Against the Odds also tells stories but does so in a way that pulls you into the story instead of always reminding you that you’re listening to a script being read.

Just finished your most recent episode, ‘Breathless’, and at the end made me think of my own personal story. Great episode and as soon as you mentioned acne medication, I knew what it was! I took Bactrim in high school in 2003 and as a result, struggled with widespread swollen lymph nodes and fevers. Turns out, I had bone marrow suppression and aplastic anemia from Bactrim. It’s like a 1:2.5 million...Read full review »

I really like this podcast, some super interesting stories here and I enjoy trying to guess what’s going on! I have to say I found the last episode (#19 The Mist) borderline unlistenable as it was so horrifying but if it makes meat eaters reconsider what they’re doing then maybe it’s a good thing…

I really like these stories but the host has an ability to take incredibly interesting stories and make them sound like he’s reading an instruction manual. It’s so bland I can’t even focus on it.

I really love this podcast! It’s really interesting, and intriguing. The episodes really make me curious about the type of disease/problem that I figure out at the end. My favorite episode is the human combustion one. Thanks for making this. It really brightens up my car rides and week!

this podcast is great, well researched and well read but I really don’t understand the bit at the beginning about hitting the subscribe button. I wish these podcasts wouldn’t try to be funny where it’s not really necessary?

I’ve been listening to MrBallen content since middle school (I’m in college now), and he’s such a humble guy. He’s done so much in his life and continues to accomplish and advance more with time.
