Good, but absolutely awful mispronunciations
This is a really good show is some ways, but two massive ways it’s really off putting. The narrators voice is borderline robotic merging with drama school dramatic, and the other issue is that every single Scandinavian name and place name is horribly mispronounced to the point that it’s now become now side hobby while listening to try to decipher what the word or name is that is being butchered. Sometimes it’s almost impossible to guess and I’m a native Swede bilingual in Swedish and English growing up very used to the other Nordic languages. If you do a show specifically about Nordic crimes which will have lots of Nordic place names and names in it, it wouldn’t hurt to just do the teensiest tiny bit of research into some basic pronunciation. They could have just had someone write it out phonetically for the narrator if they were struggling. I assume it’s a production decision, so possibly not the fault of the narrator but boy does it ruin the show.

More reviews of Murder in the North
Not a fan of the narrator but I think the real problem is that they are a voice actor and have no connection to the content, and it shows. Quite soulless yet over dramatic at the same time. This rarely works for podcasts…

I really liked this podcast! It’s the first true crime I’ve listened to, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I was hooked! I binged it and finished in 4 days. Hoping there will be a season 2!

I like this podcast, but find the overly-dramatic narration a little grating
