“A common theme in journalism today... I liked this pod nonetheless. As a small town Southerner myself, I know how hard it can be to gain interviews. People are naturally fearful of trusting outsiders. And for good reason. A reporter can tilt comments in whatever way justifies their angle. So you can’t blame them. However, there was some significant bias here. The reporters really should trust a listener to make their own mind up, instead of presenting it to them on a platter. I truly understand growing so close to a story that it’s hard not to interject opinion or feel that connection to a story. Yet no matter how obvious it might seem that someone is innocent, these journalists weren’t given interviews with key people who might have shed some light on the other side of the investigation. So those opinions were clearly based off of the full scope of one side and the seriously lacking side of the other. Of course, there isn’t much you can do when people refuse to speak with you. Good job with what you could get. Next time, try to limit the opinion. That’s what an editorial page is for.”
