You have too much to learn to miss this
Long time live musician who is self taught and thought he was pretty smart. The first few episodes were easy and I thought “should I stick with this?” Holy carp I am so glad I did. Every time I listen to a song now I analyze it. I download songs and identify progressions. I write out songs differently (transcribing lesson!). I emailed them. They responded. What? That’s unusual… As the episodes progressed I realized this wasn’t a podcast but a community for musical nerds that just want to learn, preferably together and Matt and Jeremy were the Master nerds. Welcome to Nerd-vana. As an FYI - if you don’t like the casual nature of the show then don’t listen. Yes they digress. Yes Matt uses the word “indeed” more that a 12 year old uses “like”. But that becomes part of the reason why you end up loving this motley crew! Enough. And for those that are interested in attracting friends to a “group listen” of an episode, tell them it’s a drinking game. Every time Matt says indeed you have to have a chug. Thank you Matt and Jeremy. You’ve given so much to this community and we are forever in your debt. Last but not least. I can’t join Patreon or my wife may notice the monthly billing so I will stick with PayPal. However if I may suggest… for the perfect fifth level the dollar amount is $6.50 or so in Canada. Can we ask to be called the Canadian augmented 6th?

These two absolutely take the place of a couple cheery mentors who make it exciting to come back...Read full review »

This podcast make me feel like a child that’s just learned a magic trick… I’m amazed, baffled, excited, and can’t wait to try it on my own! Except after every episode I sit down at a keyboard to try out whatever new “tricks” I’ve learned from Music Student 101. I’m not a music student, but...Read full review »
