“I really wanted to like Myleik's podcast, as I really respect a successful, black woman in business. I thought her podcast would be motivating and inspirational, but after listening to several episodes, that simply wasn't the case. While I appreciate her straightforwardness, I have to respectfully (and unfortunately) say that she needs to work on her interview etiquette. In addition, while I appreciate her being authentic in not editing her podcast, some things should really be edited out. There's a thin line between it being authentic and plain out unprofessional. I found is incredibly rude that she called her "friend" out for not sounding good in the interview, blaming her several times for being too close to the microphone or whatever the issue she thought that it was, and saying and leaving it in the live epsiode that "she doesn't edit her podcasts". I really felt for this women she called her "friend", and I could immediately tell that the interview hit a sour note. Even worst is that she either cut the woman off when she was sharing her information or something else weird happened, where the podcast suddenly cut out. Again, this is where professional editing would have been appropriate.
I feel as if a woman at Myleik's professional success that she would use good judgement and invest in her online outreach to her clientele, and pay for professional editing. Not only does her podcast need some work, but she definitely needs some soft skills. Keeping it real or being authentic is no excuse for either one.”Read full review »
