Slow start? Giving it a chance...
I love Gimlet's other two podcasts and eagerly awaited the first episode of Mystery Show. It's cute, but not compelling. Personally I was hoping for something a little more DB Cooper, rather than the mystery behind a closed-down video store, but let's give the wizards at Gimlet the benefit of the doubt and see where it goes from here!Read full review »

There is a certain charm to this show, but overall I would say it is a little less interesting and a little more convoluted than the premise might suggest. Will keep listening, though - I’m hoping it grows into itself.

Starlee Kine is fantastic. I have no idea how the rest of this show will turn out, but I’m thrilled by the first episode. Kine is so, so good.

The structure of the show needs work. As the story unfolds it slowly unravels and desperately tries to hold itself together. It's a really tough premise for a show but I'm not sure it's going to have enough juice for the long haul, especially if this weak first episode is any indication.Read full review »
