“After having been subscribed to this show for over a year, I have to bow out. From its inception, it has been frustrating, a promise of well-researched content hindered by a tiresome need to rant and Hollywood-level armchair psychology.
The information can be fantastic, but the organization has long been a jumble in need of a clear road map and editorial purpose. Is it topical or linear? For the first six months, at least, the answer is a shrug, leading to confusion and doubling of information.
The end came today when, a few months behind, I started to listen to the Book of Mormon super episode. In laying the historical foundation, Mr. Blankenagel referred to the Huns of the first century, a Roman Empire led by Alexander the Great, and Andrew Jackson's heroic defense of the US government in exile in New York during the War of 1812. This kind of basic, jaw-dropping inaccuracy was the sloppy, proverbial nail in the coffin.
The history of Mormonism is a fascinating subject, and one that deserves an easily available, critical historical survey. That exists somewhere in this podcast, but the show is too heavily weighed down by soap box editorials, post hoc generalizations, distractingly childish sobriquets, and worrying mistakes to warrant a recommendation or further listens.”Read full review »
