The partner of a covert narcissist appears to their loved ones as not having altered in their outward identity presentation but their soul seems to have disappeared. It is such a hard phenomenon to describe as it’s such an elusive idea to attempt to structure with tangible substance. Targets of narcissists often think they are happy in the relationship initially but are tricked into a very illusory reality similar to an intoxicated state. In this state logic evades them and their loved ones often can’t figure out where their soul, essence and spirit have disappeared to, they seem inaccessible.
