“FormerAM on 8/28/09 summed up my feelings on this fairly well.
Just passed the half way mark and the story is so bad that I can't turn away.
Observations for the author:
Voice acting - not required but, if you do it, own it.
- option 1: if you are going to read your own work and can't do accents then just do a straight read.
- option 2: if you have to have accents, go find people who can do them.
Story: so far there isn't one. An "almost interesting collection of vignettes" is the best that I can do. There is almost a short story but without flow or continuity.
Music: 1/5 (or more) of the episode should not be comprised of music, especially not the same ENTIRE piece more than once. Give to us, your listeners, something broader. Don't pad your episode!
History: when writing a historically based novel, do some research. If you aren't willing to research, write what you know. Some of the threads had holes big enough to throw a cat through.
General word choice: Drop the hyperbole and walk away! Florid has it's place and - until you are writing for a second rate romance novel machine - please step away from that third rail.
More thoughts and edits to first thoughts later as I continue to watch the crash and burn. Hopefully I'll be eating my words...!”
