Feeling your way through every word is a beautiful exercise
Amazing reporting. I listened to the first episode a few times to figure iut my draw to the story. I had my estranged mother cremated last year as that was the only option available with the massive debt that not even a sickle swinging angel could hope to destroy. Wary and worry washed over the director of the funeral home when our very small family wanted to see her unembalmed but fridge preserved. She was displayed under colored lights to hide what we all expected. It’s bothered me but I just heard the same wariness in the voices of those in this story “something out of a horror movie” sticks out. Same impression. When did we, in this society, agree that a person loved beyond words today, could become the feared protagonist of our collective nightmare tomorrow just because they can’t fog up a nose mirror? It’s been a minute since science disproved vampire fingernail myths. My point, no one had eyes on this place because death is still weird and uncomfortable to us. Do we pawn off our loved ones willingly and only care when that reality falls into the hands of those at the heart of this story? Is there responsibility for this depravity that warrants a bigger discussion about how we treat the deceased? Idk but it’s worth working over individually and I thank you for sharing this story and these voices so I can.

But.. why does the host insert...Read full review »

Riveting story, superbly written and hosted. The tone and production remind me of Bear Brook.
