Episode 6
Overall, I am enjoying this podcast but episode 6 was a bit offputting to me because the host didn’t go very deep with the sisters to truly understand “what exactly the abuse was.” There was discussion of putting them on anxiety meds after they were removed from the bio home - but that actually seems like a very viable thing to consider. What child removed from a neglectful home wouldnt experience anxiety? And, depending on how much it was causing behavioral issues or learning problems medicine can really help for a period of time. FAS can only be diagnosed if birth mom admits to drinking during pregnancy OR if she denies drinking, then the only way to diagnose it is thru certain facial measurements. I know all this because we are adoptive parents where the birthmom admitted to using meth, pot, cigs, and alcohol. Our eldest has had severe behavioral and emotional regulation challenges. We havent discussed birth mom’s drug use yet with our eldest but we do discuss her ADHD / OCD (may or may not have been caused by in utero effects). We discuss it so she can frame things up better. It actually helps her to feel LESS broken. Anyways, I just wanted to share that if there was true abuse happening, I needed more examples and specifics to understand.

More reviews of Nobody Should Believe Me
I found this to be very boring, scattered and strange that the podcaster focused on a famous case instead of the same issue in her own family. The podcasters voice was also painful to listen to- she has a very horse voice, like she has throat nodules. It’s very distracting
