My new go to parenting pod - from a lion tamer in training!! !
This is my new favorite parenting podcast - and that’s saying something as I listen to A LOT of parenting pods. The advice I’ve found from other podcasts - while wonderfully researched and helpful in theory often fails me in practice. Try as I may to implement parenting strategies I've learned through pods or books, I’ve found myself perplexed at why strategies that work ever so effectively in other households fail miserably at my house. Specifically, with my daughter. Enter Wendy into my life - and suddenly I have new context and framework for parenting. Listening to Wendy has allow me to more effectively parent my daughter and address some of her aggressive, loud and unladylike behaviors. But even better, it gently reminds me that nothing about my daughter is wrong. She’s just a lion. And nothing about a lion is quiet or ladylike. Lions are fierce and loud and wonderfully brave. And now, those are the qualities that I’m coming to see, understand and appreciate about my daughter. That is the gift of Wendy’s insight. Those who need practical strategies TODAY about how to masterfully tame the tiniest and fiercest of lions will appreciate her thoughtful, not-so-normal advice for each kind of temperament. And those who love psychology will appreciate how Wendy (somehow effortlessly) weaves together Enneagram and Jungian typology / Myers Briggs into this perfect bow. I’ve only ever studied these systems independently and have scoured the depths of Reddit to try and find someone who can help me understand if and how these frameworks work together. Good news, they work together beautifully. And better news, layered together they become powerful framework for understanding and appreciating our children and ourselves.Read full review »
