Description
The Israeli military said Thursday it was looking into whether Hamas’s top leader Yahya Sinwar has been killed in a military operation in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces said three terrorists were killed, and while their identities have so far not been confirmed, the IDF is “checking the possibility” that one of the three was Sinwar. An independent panel investigating the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania campaign rally in July said the Secret Service needs fundamental reform, and that “another Butler can and will happen again” without major changes in how candidates are protected. The review faulted the Secret Service for poor communication that day and for failing to secure the building from which the shooter opened fire. President Joe Biden has departed for Germany for a short visit that includes a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. They plan to discuss the war in Ukraine, European Union relations, democratic values, trade and technology issues, global supply chains, tensions in the Middle East, and security issues in the Indo-Pacific region.
