“Listening to Dr.Khan & Nurse Abeerah’s interview was difficult, yet therapeutic. As a former medical mission nurse who went to Gaza 5 months ago, hearing Abeerah’s stories was hard. Knowing the nightmare of a situation that I witnessed 5 months ago is still happening, breaks my heart even more than it already is. Maybe misery does love company. Hearing Abeerah speak about what she witnessed confirms that I was not being dramatic. I was not dreaming. It confirms the God awful truth and horror of knowing that we actually DID live through a genocide! You read about genocides in the past but you never think that you’ll live through one, so it’s wild and hard to digest that Abeerah and I actually lived through it, yet it gave me comfort in knowing that I can possibly trauma bond with someone who lived through it as well. I’m still processing what I lived through, so I’m hoping I can connect with Nurse Abeerah so we can work through this healing process together. Thank you for sharing this podcast. I hope more people hear it and advocate for an end to the genocide in Gaza. 😔”
